The Giving Plate:
A Story of Hope, Compassion, and Community

Founded in 2010 by a family with a simple mission - ”Feeding the hungry today with compassion and hospitality” - we’ve grown into a community pillar, now serving over 1,600 families each month with a week’s worth of groceries.

We’ve distributed over 7 million pounds of food since our inception, driven by our unwavering commitment to our neighbors.

The need in Central Oregon continues to grow exponentially since 2010, a reflection of how many families and individuals in our communities are struggling to make ends meet each month.

April 2024 marked a new chapter for The Giving Plate with the opening of our innovative Community Store and Distribution Center.

These new facilities epitomize our commitment to reimagining hunger relief, by positioning us with the space required as we continue to expand and meet the growing need for food in Central Oregon.

As we look to the future, our goals are clear in order to ensure every guest feels valued and respected.

We envision a community where no one goes hungry and where the support provided fosters hope, resilience, and transformation in the lives of those in Central Oregon.

The amount of guests we are serving on a monthly basis has significantly increased, and we are seeing the need grow exponentially in our region.

The Giving Plate serves over 4,800 individuals a month in Central Oregon.

We have a unique focus on childhood hunger, and as an organization, over 65% of those we serve are under 18.

Many people think our guests are usually homeless, but the reality is that 95% of The Giving Plate’s guests are housed. These are contributing members of our community, silently suffering, and often just one emergency away from being houseless.

The Giving Plate operates on the preventative side of homelessness, providing a way for people to pay their bills rather than spending money on groceries.

Unlike many food assistance programs, The Giving Plate does not receive government funding.

Our lifeline is the generosity of our neighbors, local businesses, and dedicated volunteers. This means every meal shared, every smile exchanged, and every story heard is made possible by people like you.

Join us in this mission.

Together, we can ensure that every neighbor in need is met with compassion, dignity, and unwavering support.
