Backpacks for Bend is the only program of its kind in the Bend/La Pine school district.
Our mission is to provide these children with plastic bags filled with food to ensure they don’t go hungry over the weekend when school meals are not available.
Backpacks for Bend has been positively impacting the lives of children in the Bend/La Pine schools since 2009, and in 2018 it became a cherished program of The Giving Plate. This unique initiative is the only program of its kind in Bend, specifically benefiting underprivileged and often overlooked children.
Backpacks for Bend is more than just a program; it is a lifeline for children who rely on it for their weekend sustenance.
By supporting this initiative, you help us build a stronger community where every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of these young students, ensuring they return to school each week ready to learn and grow.
