Grow & Give - Hydroponic Garden

Because we believe our guests deserve quality and fresh food too

With four days to spare in 2019, the Central Oregon community rallied to raise the funds for The Giving Plate to start an exciting new hydroponic garden project inside their facility. 2020 threw a lot of curveballs, and the project took longer to complete than planned. But, The Giving Plate is now one of the first food pantries in the Northwest to grow produce year-round for their community indoors. The current growing rack can have 128 heads of lettuce growing at a time, and The Giving Plate will be able to offer greens to its guests every six weeks. Good food shouldn’t just be for the wealthy. Everybody deserves to be nourished well, and The Giving Plate is excited to grow this new program to share even more quality produce with their neighbors in need.
